This position technically supports development of significant alterations to existing systems, supports integration and interface of existing equipment or software into different applications or platforms, and support evaluation of foreign or non-developmental systems, equipment, and technologies.
Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

Six years experience with Associate's degree/formal training or 10 years with HS/GED of practical experience to include:
Design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings
Associate’s degree in engineering technology, math, or science; or formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED
Notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties:
Designing, developing, and constructing major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments
Analyzing results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance and reports results from general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements)
Developing designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry
Analyzing technical data to determine applicability to design problems
Selecting from several possible design layouts
Calculating design data; and preparing layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
Checking and analyzing drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design and plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance
Determining test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures
Conducting tests using all types of instruments
