Description

Scientific Research Corporation (SRC) is seeking a VDI / Virtualization Engineer (Mid-Level) to modernize, operate, and sustain secure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and virtualization environments supporting U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM) mission operations. This position supports highly available, multi-enclave virtual desktop and application delivery environments across classified and unclassified networks, enabling a highly mobile and distributed warfighter population.

The candidate will design, deploy, and administer scalable virtualization solutions that enable rapid seat activation, centralized resource management, and secure access to mission systems. This role works closely with network, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and facility teams to ensure virtual environments are resilient, compliant, and operationally effective across multiple facilities and mission sites.

  • Designing, deploying, administering, and sustaining enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and server virtualization environments using platforms such as Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Citrix, or equivalent technologies
  • Supporting multi-enclave virtual environments (NIPR, SIPR, TS/SCI as applicable), ensuring proper separation, access control, and performance across security boundaries
  • Administering Active Directory in support of VDI environments, including Group Policy Objects (GPOs), user and computer objects, RBAC, authentication integration, and profile management
  • Integrating VDI solutions with enterprise services including identity and access management (IAM), storage systems, backup solutions, endpoint security tools, and monitoring platforms
  • Managing full lifecycle operations including OS image creation, patch management, vulnerability remediation, automated application delivery, and baseline configuration enforcement
  • Monitoring and optimizing VDI performance by assessing latency, throughput, storage IOPS, and compute utilization to ensure a consistent and reliable end-user experience
  • Supporting facility transitions, stand-ups, and relocations, including VDI cutovers, migrations, and capacity planning for new or expanded mission locations
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, SOPs, operational runbooks, and recovery procedures
  • Supporting cybersecurity compliance efforts, including RMF control implementation, STIG application, vulnerability remediation, and coordination with ISSMs/ISOs
  • Participating in system testing, operational readiness activities, and troubleshooting efforts in coordination with engineering and operations teams
  • Providing on-call or surge support during mission-critical events, exercises, or transition windows as required
